This new code of practice is designed to help companies to assess and maintain the competence of their engineering staff particularly in safety-critical areas and industries. It sets out the competencies expected and evidence required to prove competence in specific tasks and helps organisations create schemes for monitoring and measuring the competencies of its employees.
19 April 2016, iSys Integrity awarded IET Centre of Excellence status.
iSys Integrity were recently awarded IET Centre of Excellence status for consistently demonstrating the quality standards required by the IET for training delivery. Dr. Carl Sandom told Tony Hicks, the Learning Development Manager at the IET:
"For small businesses such as ours, the IET Centre of Excellence scheme is crucial as it provides customers with a credible endorsement of the high degree of quality, competence and professionalism of our courses and our trainers. I'm extremely proud of becoming the very first Functional Safety IET Centre of Excellence provider and it has already enabled us to provide Safety Competence Management training to a company for whom independent accreditation was an essential requirement."

*** Human Factors Professional Network Launch ***
Professional Networks, or PNs, are world-wide groups of people with common technical and professional interests initiated and coordinated by the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE).
The IEE Human Factors Engineering Professional Network (HFE PN) was launched at Savoy Place, London on Thursday 4 July 2002. Magdalen Galley and Prof. Brian Mellitt, the Presidents of the Ergonomics Society and the IEE, were there to endorse the HFE PN launch aims to bring the Human Factors and Engineering disciplines closer together.
A keynote presentation was given by Dr. Barry Kirwan, Eurocontrol, entitled 'Human factors and reliability - making a difference?'. The launch event was well attended and a Networking Buffet was held immediately after the event.
The IEE HFE PN Executive Committee Chairman is Dr. Carl Sandom, Principal Consultant for iSys Integrity who specialise in system safety, human factors and training. Further details about IEE HFE PN activities and events can be found at: http://www.iee.org/OnComms/pn/humanfactors/ or by contacting Carl at: Carl@iSys-Integrity.com
